Hello! My name is Kyle Simpson, and this is my second year as part of the Student Movement—this time as your esteemed News section editor! I’m a junior majoring in both English and biology and, unsurprisingly, am interested in just about anything art, history or science-related. I see the News section as important because we’ll be keeping you up-to-date on what’s going on at 星空无限传媒, whether it’s casual things like events or more serious matters when those arise, all done with a special emphasis on the student’s-eye view. The News section has some capable writers on it this year, and we’re all looking forward to keeping you up to date and in the know. I’ll let them take over from here:
Audrey Hoover reporting for duty, and I’m so thrilled to be writing for AUSM’s News section this year! I am a freshman double-majoring in speech-language pathology and audiology and music, so if you come to any Orchestra or Wind Symphony concerts, look out for me next to the flutes with an oboe or English horn in hand. In my little bits of free time, I will usually practice music or read, but I also love caring for my plants, hanging out with friends, or picking up a composition or embroidery project. If there’s anything exciting happening on campus, I’ll be the first to let you know!
What’s good, my name is Joel Pelletier. I hail from Johnston, Rhode Island, the birthplace of Joe Mazzulla, head coach of my favorite NBA team, the Boston Celtics. This is my fourth semester as a writer for AUSM, and I am a senior majoring in English, religion, secondary education and Spanish. I enjoy music (think Steely Dan, dälek, Liz Story, Grandbrothers, Talking Heads, Mk.gee, Vince Guaraldi, and I could go on forever), but I especially enjoy debating it equally as much, so if you run into me, please tell me who your favorite artist is! I also enjoy reading the Bible and engaging in theological discussions, as well as practicing magic and sleight illusions, watching professional sports and promulgating spider propaganda. I also enjoy pizza and soft pretzels as well as nearly every dessert and fruit imaginable. I cannot wait to spread the news around campus as dutifully as possible.
Hello, my name is Holli Kirschbaum, and I am a freshman majoring in animal science! I am from Jamieson, Oregon, which is a small unincorporated community of about 100 people. A few interesting facts are that I am the oldest sibling in my family with three brothers, and I grew up on our family farm. I have had many different pets, but I’ve always wanted a snake, rodent of some kind or amphibian. I enjoy reading, watching movies, and playing many different types of sports, as well as painting and listening to music. I am really looking forward to writing for the Student Movement this year!
